Constipation is a digestive disease that requires the adoption of nutrition and a specific diet. Some foods naturally have laxative properties and will facilitate the evacuation of stool.

The prune is one of these foods to be favored; its composition is a useful ally against constipation mainly if it is associated with a diet and a diet adapted to your case.

  • Pectin: which will retain water in the intestines and moisturize the stool, thus facilitating transit and reducing constipation.

The prune has a remarkable advantage because it is rich in soluble fiber and insoluble fiber allowing to accelerate the transit mechanically and naturally.

Constipation and prune: sorbitol

  • The prune is rich in sorbitol ( a type of sugar) which is a natural laxative.
  • Sorbitol is part of the natural pharmacopeia for fighting constipation.
  • To be effective, sorbitol should preferably be ingested at bedtime for effect the next morning upon waking.

Constipation and prune: how to use them?

To fight constipation efficiently, it is necessary to adapt the number of fibers to the degree of constipation, and thus avoid irritating the digestive wall.

Depending on the type of constipation, it is recommended:

  • 3 or 4 prunes that are left to soak in water to rehydrate and increase their effect.
  • The consumption of these prunes in the evening preferably before bedtime to allow sorbitol to make its effect during the night.
  • To drink the soaking water thus increasing the effectiveness of constipation by water intake.

The use of prune juice may also be recommended if necessary even or alternately.


• Soak ten prunes in a bowl of cold water overnight, after opening them in half and pitted.

• Cook for 2 hours, changing the water once. In the morning on an empty stomach, eat the prunes and drink a glass of cooking water.
