Dulcolax Laxative Suppositories Review: Stress, a change of diet or a trip can disrupt the transit. To remedy this, different laxatives are available in pharmacies. Here is the practical guide. To consume without abusing it!

It is never nice. Bloating, a feeling of heaviness or even abdominal pain often accompany a slowed transit. If these symptoms remain mild most of the time, however, avoid shifting to chronic constipation, characterized by infrequent (less than three times per week) or hard stools for at least six months.

The first thing to do is to respect his sensations of need. The time spent in the toilet must be sufficient, and the place sufficiently intimate to not pose any additional problem. If you are not suffering from gluten intolerance or irritable bowel syndrome, you should eat more cereals (wheat bran, bread with bran) and vegetables and dried fruit (lentils, peas Chicken, dried beans, split peas, prunes …). However, changing your eating habits takes time and is not always enough. A laxative is then useful.

Several families of laxatives

The mild laxatives are better tolerated. They increase the moisture of the stool and their volume and modify their consistency, which facilitates the transit. The so-called ballast laxatives are composed of vegetable fibers such as wheat bran, guar gum, ispaghul or linseed seeds. They act in two to three days. To limit bloating, it is better to increase the dosage gradually. Working a little faster, laxatives called osmotic are sugars (lactulose, sorbitol …) or large molecules (like macrogols) that are neither digested nor absorbed by the body.

The Lubricant laxatives act within 24 hours. Based on paraffin oil or petroleum jelly, they can induce an unpleasant anal oozing. In some people, they sometimes reduce the absorption of vitamins A, D, E and K in some people. They are, however, interesting if the stools are hard.

Stimulating laxatives work in 5 to 10 hours, but they irritate the intestinal mucosa. They are synthetic molecules (bisacodyl …) or plants such as Bourdain, senna, cascara, aloe and rhubarb. By increasing the secretion of water in the intestine and by stimulating the mucosa, they promote the contractions of the digestive tract and allow the evacuation of the stools. If they are practical in use because they are available in capsules, tablets or herbal teas, they cause transit to lose the habit of functioning by itself. Above all, they are not devoid of side effects: Hydration disorders and colitis, in particular. It is, therefore, necessary to make sure to reserve them at very punctual catches, to troubleshoot, especially during travel, and for 5 to 7 days, ten maximum.

Express, suppository or rectal enema solutions (Microlax) work in less than an hour. They cause, by reflex, a contraction of the rectum, but they are uncomfortable to use. If they can be useful occasionally, they should not be used too often because they are irritating. They are not suitable for people prone to hemorrhoidal flare or suffering from inflammatory bowel disease.

Dulcolax Laxative Suppositories is recommended in certain forms of constipation (occasional constipation) and as preparation for special examinations (proctoscopy). Works exactly as stated on the box without any of the additional side effects. I, unfortunately, have to take narcotics for chronic pain and as a result, suffer from chronic constipation. I do not like taking yet “another pill” so occasionally I will use these suppositories for relief. They work quickly and are effective. Enough said. The only bad thing is that when it is hot, you “have” to keep them in a cool place or they melt. They are expensive but work well.
